Why I volunteer – Joan Baines

Joan Baines Volunteer

Volunteering really hit home for me as a primary classroom teacher. The parents who volunteered in my classroom were invaluable to me, and more importantly to my students. So upon retiring, I became a volunteer. First at Ronald MacDonald House in Toronto then up here in Collingwood through Hospice Georgian Triangle and the Rainbows Program. All these opportunities have given me much joy and satisfaction.

The following quote by Mahatma Gandhi I feel says it all –  “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

Cheers.
