HOSPICE GEORGIAN TRIANGLE LIVING WISH PROGRAM
Reframing hope, one wish at a time
about us
Hospice Georgian Triangle’s Living Wish Program is devoted to helping terminally ill patients re-frame hope and realize their dreams. Together, we can make a difference for generations to come. Whether you want to contribute with a donation or your time, your support brings us one step closer to our vision: A world where everyone experiences the joy of one last wish.
How it works
- Wish Submission – Patients, families, or caregivers submit a wish. See eligibility here.
- Review & Planning – Our compassionate team assesses and coordinates the logistics.
- Wish Fulfillment – Volunteers and community support help make the wish a reality.
Examples of living wishes
End-of-life wishes aren’t grand or extravagant. They’re personal. Often small, always meaningful:
- A last visit home to see a beloved garden
- A reunion with a distant family member
- One more night at the cottage
- A favorite flavor of ice cream
- A final cuddle with a cherished pet
- An early birthday, anniversary, or holiday celebration
Sometimes, all it takes is permission to ask—and the right people to help make it happen.
“Peter was asked if he had a special wish: one last Corvette Cruise. We were both thrilled to learn that his wish was to be granted by The Living Wish Foundation and the Staff and Volunteers at Hospice. It allowed us to rediscover love, laughter, and joy amidst the challenges.”

HISTORY OF THE LIVING WISH
Wishes don’t have to be overly complicated. Sometimes it’s the very simplest thing that can make all of the difference.”
— Dr. Alyssa Boyd, Medical Director, Hospice Georgian Triangle & Co-founder, Living Wish Foundation
Since 2018, the Living Wish Foundation has brought comfort, joy, and meaningful moments to individuals facing end-of-life by granting more than 120 heartfelt wishes. From favorite foods to final family visits, these simple but powerful experiences leave lasting memories for patients and their loved ones.
From the beginning, Hospice Georgian Triangle has been a proud and trusted partner in this mission.
As of May 2025, we are honoured to carry this legacy forward as the Living Wish Foundation becomes a Hospice Georgian Triangle Community Program.
Our Story: How the Living Wish began
The idea for the Living Wish Foundation was born from a simple moment of wonder.
Before starting medical school, Dr. Alyssa Boyd worked as a summer camp counselor for children affected by cancer. One of her campers, 4-year-old Alexa, had recently undergone surgery for a brain tumor. Her mobility and vision were limited—but her joy and spirit were boundless.
As they walked slowly across the camp’s lawn, Alexa spotted a dandelion. Dr. Boyd encouraged her to make a wish and blow. After a thoughtful pause, Alexa did just that. When asked what she had wished for, Alexa lit up with excitement:
“I wished we could go to Arts and Crafts!”
That moment—a child’s joy in the simplest wish—inspired a mission that continues today.
Continuing the legacy
We are deeply grateful to Dr. Alyssa Boyd, Lisa Wright, RN, BScN, CHPCN(c), and Nancy Good-Kennedy, RN, co-founders of the Living Wish Foundation. Their vision and the dedication of their board and volunteers have shaped a compassionate, community-driven initiative that we are proud to now carry forward.
Together with our staff, volunteers, and partners, we are committed to honoring this legacy—one simple, powerful wish at a time.
