The Living Wish Foundation Passes the Torch to Hospice Georgian Triangle to Ensure the Legacy of Final Wishes

Collingwood, ON — May 12, 2025 — The Living Wish Foundation and Hospice Georgian Triangle are thrilled to announce an important milestone that will ensure the future of granting final wishes to palliative patients in our community.

Since 2018, The Living Wish Foundation has been dedicated to bringing comfort, joy, and meaningful memories to patients and their loved ones in Southern Georgian Bay. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, they have granted over 120 wishes — moments that have touched not only families and friends but also the outstanding medical teams and local businesses who care for them.

As the Living Wish program has grown, so has the need for greater support and sustainability. Today, we are excited to share that The Living Wish Foundation is officially passing the torch to Hospice Georgian Triangle.

Hospice Georgian Triangle has been a trusted partner from the beginning, providing compassionate care to our community. Transitioning the Living Wish program into their capable hands ensures that this beautiful work will continue to thrive under a strong, sustainable structure. The program will now operate as the Hospice Georgian Triangle Living Wish Program.

The Living Wish Foundation was co-founded by Dr. Alyssa Boyd, Medical Director of Hospice Georgian Triangle. Dr. Boyd shared a powerful message about the mission of the Living Wish Foundation.

“Wishes don’t have to be overly complicated. Sometimes it’s the very simplest thing that can make all of the difference. Wishes are personal. Often small, always meaningful. A last visit to a beloved garden, one more night at the cottage, or a taste of your favourite ice cream. Sometimes all it takes is permission to ask. The right people help to make it happen,” shared Dr. Alyssa Boyd, Medical Director, Hospice Georgian Triangle and co-founder, Living Wish Foundation.

“We are deeply grateful to Dr. Alyssa Boyd, Lisa Wright, and Nancy Good-Kennedy, co-founders of the Living Wish Foundation. Their vision and the dedication of their board and volunteers have shaped a compassionate, community-driven initiative that we are proud to now carry forward,” remarked Trish Rawn, Chief Executive Office, Hospice Georgian Triangle.

Together with our staff, volunteers, and partners, we are committed to honoring this legacy—one simple, powerful wish at a time,” she adds.

The Living Wish Foundation’s assets will be transferred to Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation.

“This allows the Hospice team, under April Lawson, to begin fulfilling wishes immediately, ensuring no gap in the vital services provided to palliative patients,” said Sandra Sullivan, Executive Director Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation.

Privacy and confidentiality of donor information will be maintained according to the highest ethical and legal standards, consistent with The Living Wish Foundation’s Privacy Policy. All funds entrusted to the Living Wish program will continue to be used exclusively to support wishes for palliative patients.

“We will honour the intention of all gifts made to the Living Wish Foundation,” said Sullivan. “And, we invite those who have supported wishes to continue this journey by supporting the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation.”
